Vehicle weight categories do not describe usable payload on their own. Body dimensions, lifting equipment and the particular vehicle specification must be checked. Driver licence entitlement and any operator requirements must match the vehicle and its intended use.

Insurance is normally included for eligible named drivers on vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes, subject to excesses and exclusions. Heavier trucks require suitable customer insurance. We will check the requirements for the vehicle, driver, route and booking before confirming a hire.

We check the licence entitlement and history of every named driver, age, experience and intended use. General car, van and truck policies normally cover ages 23–70 with at least two years’ driving experience, subject to approval. Minibuses and heavier vehicles have additional requirements.
